LOCATION

Ngorongoro Conservation Area is in northern Tanzania. It’s home to the vast, volcanic Ngorongoro Crater and “big 5” game (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino). Huge herds of wildebeests and zebras traverse its plains during their annual migration. Livestock belonging to the semi-nomadic Maasai tribe graze alongside wild animals. Hominin fossils found in the Olduvai Gorge date back millions of years.

ITINERARY

Morning Departure from Arusha/Moshi:

Our expedition begins in the early hours as we depart from Arusha or Moshi, setting out on a scenic drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. With anticipation building, we traverse the rugged terrain, eagerly anticipating the breathtaking vistas that await us.

Arrival at Ngorongoro Conservation Area:

Upon reaching the gates of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, we are greeted by the towering walls of the crater, a testament to the immense geological forces that have shaped this natural marvel. After completing entry formalities, our safari adventure officially begins.

Descent into the Crater:

As we descend into the crater’s depths, a world of wonder unfolds before us. The Ngorongoro Crater is a vast caldera, home to a diverse array of wildlife, including the Big Five – lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinoceroses. Our experienced guide leads us through this natural paradise, pointing out the myriad species that call the crater home.

Wildlife Encounters:

As we explore the crater floor, we encounter a breathtaking array of wildlife, from herds of grazing antelopes to majestic predators prowling the savannah. Keep your camera ready for close encounters with lions lounging in the sun, elephants bathing in watering holes, and hippos wallowing in the mud.

Picnic Lunch amidst Nature’s Splendor:

Pause for a picnic lunch amidst the stunning scenery of the Ngorongoro Crater, savoring delicious meals while surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness. Take a moment to soak in the serenity of the crater’s surroundings and appreciate the beauty of our natural surroundings.

Continue our safari adventure, exploring the highlights of the Ngorongoro Crater, including the Lerai Forest, home to a variety of bird species and the endangered black rhinoceros. Marvel at the dramatic landscapes and geological features that define this unique ecosystem.

Afternoon Game Drive and Farewell:

As the afternoon unfolds, we embark on a final game drive through the Ngorongoro Crater, bidding farewell to its inhabitants as we reluctantly begin our journey back to Arusha or Moshi. Reflecting on the day’s adventures, we carry with us memories of an unforgettable safari experience in one of Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders.
