Day By Day Itinerary

• Marangu Gate (6000 ft) – Mandara Hut (9,000 ft),
• Hiking/Ascent time: 3 – 4 hours
• Habitat: Montane forest

Morning Departure from Arusha/Moshi:

Leave Moshi or Arusha town and drive to Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. 

Arrival at Kilimanjaro National Park Gate:

Upon reaching the Kilimanjaro National Park gate, we are greeted by the imposing presence of Mount Kilimanjaro towering overhead. After completing the necessary park formalities, our ascent to Mandara Hut officially commences.

Trek through Diverse Landscapes:

Set off on the trail, traversing through lush rainforests adorned with towering trees and a rich tapestry of flora and fauna. The landscape gradually transforms as we ascend, offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and plains below.

Encounter with Wildlife:

Keep a lookout for the park’s diverse wildlife, including colorful bird species and elusive forest dwellers such as colobus monkeys and blue monkeys. Our knowledgeable guide will provide insights into the park’s biodiversity, enhancing our appreciation of this unique ecosystem.

Arrival at Mandara Hut:

After several hours of trekking, we arrive at Mandara Hut, our destination for the day. Nestled amidst the mountain’s slopes, Mandara Hut offers a welcome respite for weary hikers, with rustic accommodations and breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery.

Picnic Lunch and Exploration:

Pause for a well-deserved picnic lunch amidst the tranquil surroundings of Mandara Hut, savoring delicious meals while soaking in the beauty of our natural surroundings. Take the opportunity to explore the area, capturing memorable photos and immersing ourselves in the serenity of the mountain.

Reflection and Return:

As the day draws to a close, we take a moment to reflect on our journey and the awe-inspiring beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro. With memories etched in our hearts and spirits rejuvenated, we begin our descent back to the park gate, bidding farewell to Mandara Hut and the majestic mountain that looms above.
